Currently, we employ and manage thousands of employees onboard a remarkable fleet of seagoing and river cruise ships; our shoreside offices are based:

• in Zug in Switzerland,
• in Limassol in Cyprus,

• in Hamburg and Berlin in Germany.

Job Specification:

(academic qualifications/ professional experience/ training/ approvals/ licenses/ certifications):

• Degree in a numerate or a technical subject such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems

• 6 or more years working with data platforms, of which at least 2 spent owning outcomes rather than only delivering tasks — leading a small team, running a workstream, or managing a delivery partner

• Real depth in the Microsoft data stack: SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS Tabular or their modern equivalents

Be able to read a warehouse and form own view

• Practical data governance experience

• Working understanding of the EU AI Act and GDPR as they apply to a deployer of AI

• Professional English

Desirable, not required

• Experience of warehouse modernization or cloud migration — Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or similar

• Data Vault modelling

• Exposure to DAMA-DMBOK, ISO/IEC 42001 or the NIST AI Risk Management Framework

• Greek, for working with local partners and authorities

• Any experience of maritime, travel, hospitality or crewing data

Responsibilities & Authorities:

Data governance, hands-on.

• Develop and maintain the data ownership register, the quality baseline and the stewardship cadence across crew, finance, procurement, guest and client data.

AI governance.

• Develop and maintain the register of where AI is used across the group, the data classification that sits under it, due diligence on how AI vendors handle company data, and the readiness gate every analytical or AI use case clears before it goes live.

• Work with Legal and company’s Data Protection lead on the regulatory position; you own the operating side of it.

Metric definitions.

• Determine and agree KPIs

• Ensure they are implemented by identified employees

The partner relationship.

• Agree scope and priorities with company’s data partner

• Build a shared way of working so platform knowledge sits on both sides.

The team.

• Recruit the Data Engineer and the Data Scientist,

• Lead both roles

• Read of the platform shapes what we ask the Engineer to focus on.

The platform roadmap.

• Formulate the modernization decision of the warehouse which is built on the Microsoft data stack.

• Your team makes the recommendation, together with company partner and with input from across the business.

Other

• Undertake any task or duty assigned by the management

• Is aware, implement and comply to Company’s Integrated Management System (IMS)

First twelve months

Months 1–3

• Get to know the platform, the integrations and the reporting estate, and establish a working relationship with the company’s partner.

• Develop first data ownership registers with named owners.

• Data Engineer recruitment under way.

Months 3–6:

• Recruit and Engineer and Scientist.

• Agree Quality baseline per domain. A shared way of working, agreed with company’s partner.

• Develop a first AI use-case register, with the higher-risk uses identified.

Months 6–12:

• Recommend and cost a Target architecture.

• Run Stewardship cadence.

• Develop an AI-readiness checklist.
