Data & Analytics Technical Lead

A global financial organisation is investing heavily in Data & AI , with a major Microsoft Fabric migration underway and the foundations being built for its next phase of AI and advanced analytics.

This newly created Data & Analytics Technical Lead / 2IC role will work closely with the Head of Data & AI, combining hands-on engineering with the opportunity to influence platform design, engineering standards and data practices .

You'll play a key role in the transformation, with the autonomy to challenge existing approaches, improve how data is engineered and help shape the future data platform.

What You'll Be Doing

• Play a key role in the Microsoft Fabric migration
• Design and build scalable data solutions across the modern data platform
• Contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns and quality practices
• Work across data modelling, ETL/ELT, transformation and integration
• Help shape how data is structured, governed and made available for analytics and AI
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring across the wider engineering capability

What You'll Bring We're looking for a strong Senior Data Engineer who combines deep technical capability with the confidence to influence and operate with autonomy.

You'll Ideally Bring

• Advanced SQL and strong database development skills
• Strong data modelling, ETL/ELT and transformation experience
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric - Bonus!
• Understanding of modern lakehouse, warehouse and Medallion architecture
• Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, metadata and governance
• Experience with Git, code review and CI/CD
• Python and/or PySpark would be advantageous
• A track record of taking ownership and improving engineering practices
• Most importantly, you'll be someone who doesn't need everything mapped out for you. You can work through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, make sound technical decisions and bring stakeholders with you.
