Data and Scoring Officer

TAKMIL (Teach A Kid Make Individual Life) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality education to out-of-school children in rural areas. Operating across 150+ non-formal centers, TAKMIL bridges local educational operations with global management teams to drive sustainable social impact.

Role purpose

Maintain accurate, secure and traceable assessment records. Produce scoring outputs and reports that allow the selection panel to understand the evidence, identify uncertainties and review fairness.

Key responsibilitiesData systems and documentation

• Set up and maintain the approved scoring spreadsheet or database.
• Create unique student IDs and maintain the identifying information separately with restricted access.
• Develop a data dictionary, entry instructions and a register of approved scoring rules.
• Configure validation checks, protected formulas, access controls and backups.
• Maintain clear version histories and an audit trail of corrections.

Data collection and quality

• Receive, log and check nomination forms, consent-status records, observer sheets, interviews and trial ratings.
• Identify missing, duplicate, illegible or inconsistent records and return queries to the responsible staff.
• Double-check at least 10% of entered records and investigate all identified errors.
• Expand checking when the sample reveals a recurring problem.
• Distinguish “not observed” from low performance; do not replace missing evidence with zero.

Scoring and review

• Calculate component scores, final scores and bands using approved rules.
• Flag paired-observer differences of two or more points on the programme’s four-point scale.
• Preserve original independent ratings alongside any reviewed rating and the reason for the change.
• Produce student evidence summaries for the selection panel.
• Refer scoring ambiguities to the Programme Lead and psychologist rather than resolving them through undocumented assumptions.

Reporting and fairness analysis

• Report participation, completion, missing data and selection outcomes by gender, school and province.
• Include denominators and relevant context so percentages are interpretable.
• Avoid publishing small-group breakdowns that could identify individual children.
• Support review of observer patterns and differences between assessment locations.
• Track student outcomes over time using agreed measures and permissions.
• Support analysis of whether assessment measures relate to later programme outcomes, documenting limitations.

Confidentiality and records management

• Follow TAKMIL’s approved retention and deletion schedule.
• Share only the information necessary for each staff member’s role.
• Keep sensitive wellbeing and safeguarding records outside routine scoring files.
• Escalate suspected data loss, unauthorised access or disclosure immediately.

Required qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, computer science or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, validation, lookups and summary reporting.
• Experience cleaning and checking structured data.
• Strong attention to detail and clear documentation habits.
• Ability to handle confidential information about children responsibly.
• Ability to explain scoring and data-quality issues to non-technical colleagues.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Experience with education or monitoring and evaluation data.
• Knowledge of Python, R or database tools.
• Experience preparing dashboards or longitudinal reports.
