What they need
The Data & Systems Analyst will help the Parish Support Team make better decisions, improve services, and reduce complexity through better use of data, systems, and insight.
Working across departments, the postholder will develop a deep understanding of how information, processes, and services currently operate, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen decision-making, and enhance the experience of colleagues, clergy, volunteers, and other users. They will translate organisational needs into practical solutions, combining data analysis, process improvement, service design, and digital tools to deliver meaningful change.
This person will act as the organisation’s lead specialist to improve data quality, integration, reporting, and governance, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and used effectively across the organisation. They will also support the design and implementation of systems, workflows, and automations that save time, reduce duplication, and enable colleagues to focus on higher-value activities.
By helping the organisation better understand its churches, communities, and activities, and by improving the systems and processes that support them, the Data & Systems Analyst will contribute to the effective stewardship of resources and flourishing of the Church of England ecosystem throughout Derbyshire.
Main Priorities for the first 12 Months
In the first 12 months, the successful candidate will play a critical role in helping the Parish Support Team become a more data-informed, connected, and efficient organisation:
- Lead implementation of recommendations arising from the Data Protection and Cybersecurity Audit, strengthening data governance, information management, retention, and compliance practices.
- Improve the organisation's contact management system, establishing clearer governance, improving data quality, and strengthening integration with other systems and processes.
- Develop dashboards and reporting that unlock the value of data collected through a new digital tool designed to help churches plan local activity and community impact.
- Help design and implement a connected organisational data ecosystem using Microsoft technologies, reducing reliance on disconnected spreadsheets and manual processes.
- Develop new approaches for gathering, combining, and analysing insight from parishes, churches, clergy, volunteers, and communities to inform decision-making and target support more effectively.
This is a fixed term post of up to 3 years, part time working can be considered between 28 to 35 hours per week, see role description for further information.
Closing date is 1 November 2026 at 11.59pm
