Role: Lead Data / MDM Architect

Employment Type: Full-Time, 2-Year Contract

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Data / MDM Architect to lead the overall data architecture and provide technical direction across a large-scale data and MDM programme.

You will work across data engineering, MDM, integrations, governance, security and downstream systems to ensure the overall architecture is scalable, secure and practical to implement.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall Data and MDM Architecture , including architecture standards and technical decisions.
• Design and maintain master data models , global identifiers and source-system mappings.
• Define how data should be cleaned, standardised and prepared before entering the MDM platform.
• Lead the architecture across Azure, ADLS Gen2, Databricks/Spark, Profisee MDM and Microsoft Purview .
• Design approaches for integrating and consolidating data from different source systems.
• Define how master data will be managed, including matching, survivorship, source ownership and Golden Records .
• Work closely with business and governance teams to establish data ownership and stewardship processes.
• Review integration approaches including APIs, files, CDC and event-driven integrations .
• Ensure data architecture meets security, privacy, compliance, audit and data residency requirements .
• Lead technical design discussions and maintain architecture decisions and documentation.
• Participate in steering committee and senior stakeholder discussions.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams and ensure the proposed architecture can be effectively implemented.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise data engineering, data architecture or solution architecture.
• Strong experience designing Azure-based data platforms .
• Strong knowledge of Azure Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake and ADLS Gen2 .
• Practical experience with Master Data Management (MDM) , including:
• Master data models
• Entity resolution
• Golden Records
• Survivorship
• Source system authority
• Data stewardship
• Global identifiers
• Strong experience in API and integration architecture and distributed systems.
• Good understanding of data security, privacy, governance and multi-region environments .
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong experience in preparing and maintaining architecture and technical documentation .

Nice to Have

• Experience with Profisee MDM or another enterprise MDM platform.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview , data cataloguing and data lineage.
• Experience working on large-scale Customer, Supplier or Organisation master-data programmes .
• Azure and/or Databricks certifications.
