Data Architect GCP - Big Query

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to modernise our enterprise data ecosystem. In this role, you will prepare the essential source-to-target groundwork our data strategy relies on: the discovery, profiling, and mappings that let priority use cases proceed cleanly and that squads later reuse. You will design scalable cloud platforms and data flows, transitioning workloads from legacy stores like Teradata to GCP and BigQuery.

Key Responsibilities

• Source Assessment: Establish a repeatable method and inventory to capture access, availability, ownership, and dependencies for every source.
• Data Profiling: Validate source suitability through hands-on data profiling and technical discussions with system owners.
• Modelling & Mapping: Define the minimum target model and source-to-target mappings in a pattern reusable across all subsequent sources.
• Backlog Management: Produce an implementation backlog in Jira covering integration decisions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria agreed with engineering.
• Engineering Support: Guide engineering through the first implementation, resolving design issues and locking the reusable mapping patterns.

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Cloud Platforms: Direct experience architecting and optimising data workflows within GCP and BigQuery.
• Legacy Data Systems: Solid understanding of enterprise legacy environments, specifically Teradata.
• Core Design Stack: Strong background in data architecture, data modelling, source-to-target mapping, and data flow design.
• Delivery Tooling: Practical experience structuring integration dependencies and backlogs within Jira.

Pay: £475.00 per day

Work Location: Hybrid remote in London
