Data Archiving & Information Governance

Roles and Responsibilities :

Archiving strategy and roadmap: Own and maintain the enterprise archiving strategy, principles, patterns and roadmap, aligned to business priorities, technology strategy and information-governance requirements.

Data-estate subject-matter expertise: Provide authoritative guidance on Client’s historical data landscape, archive repositories, legacy platforms, interfaces, ownership and previous design decisions.

Application retirement and migration: Shape archiving, extraction, transformation, reconciliation and access requirements for application decommissioning and archive migration initiatives.

Retention and defensible disposal: Translate approved retention schedules, legal holds and privacy requirements into implementable technology controls, evidence and operating procedures.

Solution assurance: Review and challenge proposed archive solutions, vendor designs and migration approaches for data integrity, searchability, auditability, security, resilience, recoverability and operational support.

Governance and risk: Identify information-lifecycle risks, define mitigating controls and provide clear recommendations to design authorities, change governance and senior stakeholders.

Supplier and partner leadership: Provide technical and domain direction to vendors, delivery partners and managed-service teams, ensuring outputs meet Client requirements and knowledge is retained internally.

Operational stewardship: Support service ownership through issue resolution, root-cause analysis, audit evidence, continuity planning, capacity considerations and lifecycle improvement.

Knowledge management: Create and maintain the archive knowledge base, system inventories, decision records, data-flow documentation, runbooks and succession materials.

Coaching and capability building: Develop data-lifecycle and archiving capability across product, architecture, engineering, service and governance communities.

A clear, governed enterprise archiving roadmap and prioritised pipeline.

Reduced dependency on undocumented individual knowledge through complete, usable knowledge artefacts.

Reliable access to retained historical data throughout and after application retirement.

Demonstrable alignment between retention obligations and technical implementation.

Lower legacy-technology cost and risk through controlled migration, consolidation and disposal.

Traceable architecture and lifecycle decisions supported by evidence and accountable ownership.

Recommends enterprise archiving patterns, controls and roadmap priorities.

Defines information and technical requirements for archive migrations and application retirement.

Provides SME assurance and recommends acceptance, remediation, exception or escalation of identified risks.

Advises service and business owners on retention implementation, access, evidence, resilience and disposal.

Escalates material legal, privacy, security, operational or data-integrity concerns to the accountable owner

Job Requirements :

• 10-15 years of experience in IT services & consulting industry.
• Strong expertise in data archiving, data modeling, and database design principles.
• Proven track record in migrating large volumes of data between different systems using various tools (e.g., ETL).
• In-depth knowledge of SQL programming language with ability to write efficient queries.
