www.TheTechRecruiter.ai is recruiting for a Data & BI Business Analyst to join an established organisation's data and technology function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong business analysis and data analysis skills with a good understanding of SQL, Power BI, reporting, data modelling and analytics.

Rather than being a hands-on BI development role, you'll sit between the business and technical data teams, gathering requirements and translating reporting and analytics needs into clear technical definitions that developers, engineers and architects can deliver against.

What you'll be doing

• Gather, analyse and validate business requirements for BI, reporting and analytics solutions
• Translate requirements into clear technical specifications, metric definitions and data requirements
• Work with Power BI, SQL and data teams to understand reporting requirements and identify gaps within existing data models
• Analyse existing systems, reports and data solutions to ensure they continue to meet business needs
• Work closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers and Architects throughout the solution lifecycle
• Support data modelling and semantic model requirements, ensuring consistency across reporting
• Test and validate BI and analytics solutions against agreed requirements and data quality standards
• Support business stakeholders through UAT, sign-off and adoption
• Maintain clear documentation covering requirements, solution design, testing, data lineage and the end-to-end data journey
• Help ensure reporting solutions comply with data governance, security and architectural standards
• Support and train users on new reporting and analytics solutions
• Build strong relationships across business, technology, data and third-party teams
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of BI, analytics and data processes

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have experience working as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Systems Analyst or Reporting Analyst within a data-led environment.

We'd particularly like to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

• Strong requirements gathering and business analysis experience
• Good SQL knowledge and the ability to interrogate and understand data
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI
• Understanding of data modelling, semantic models and reporting structures
• Experience translating business reporting requirements into technical specifications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with UAT, testing and business sign-off
• Understanding of data quality, governance and data lineage
• Ability to communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working alongside BI Developers, Data Engineers and Solution/Data Architects
