Data Business Systems Analyst

Job Title: Data Designer / Data Business Systems Analyst Databricks & Financial Services Location: Downtown Toronto, Canada

Experience: 5 7 years, Finance experience: Mandatory

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Designer / Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with 5 7 years of relevant experience, hands-on exposure to Databricks, and a strong background in the financial services domain. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technology teams to understand business requirements and translate them into clear data and functional specifications. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing data requirements, documenting data flows, supporting data design activities, and ensuring that proposed data solutions align with business objectives.

Prior finance or financial services experience is mandatory , along with practical experience working with Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and data requirements.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, data requirements, and design documentation.
• Work with Databricks-based data platforms to understand data structures, data flows, and processing requirements.
• Analyze source systems, data elements, data dependencies, and data transformation requirements.
• Support the design and documentation of data models, mappings, and data integration workflows, as required.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, developers, and QA teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
• Perform data analysis and support data validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
• Identify gaps, dependencies, and inconsistencies in data requirements and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
• Support functional testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and business sign-off.
• Maintain clear documentation of requirements, data definitions, business rules, and design decisions.

Required Qualifications And Skills

• 5 7 years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) or similar business and data analysis role.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Mandatory experience in finance or financial services.
• Strong skills in business requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation.
• Ability to translate business needs into functional and data-related specifications.
• Experience working with data structures, data mapping, data flows, and data validation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting data transformation, data integration, or data platform initiatives.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts.
• Experience with data modelling, data mapping, and data quality activities.
• Experience preparing functional specifications, process flows, and UAT documentation.
