DATA CENTER COMMISSIONING ENGINEER WITH EQUITY

Are you the person who makes sure a data center works the way it was designed before the first customer ever goes live? Do you have experience as a Data Center Tech or Building Engineer?

Our client, a leading provider of enterprise data center, cloud and interconnection services, is hiring a Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning on mission-critical construction and expansion projects in Dallas, TX. You’ll report to the Manager, Commissioning and own the commissioning phase from planning through handover to the operations team.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end commissioning for new build and expansion projects, managing site-specific L1 through L5 processes
• Build and run project-specific commissioning plans across Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Alarm, Fire Protection and Controls, verifying design, installation, functional performance and reliability
• Work alongside the GC, equipment manufacturers, the Commissioning Agent, architects, engineers and trade partners to integrate start-up and commissioning schedules into the overall project schedule
• Track performance against schedule, run critical path analysis, identify risks to budget and timeline, and report monthly
• Manage commissioning RFPs from creation through award
• Review design documents, specifications and submittals, including vendor start-up and commissioning procedures
• Run weekly punch-list meetings and drive open items to resolution, backed by a punch-list prevention plan
• Own commissioning documentation and closeout packages to support a smooth transition to facility operations
• Onboard new trade partners, vendors and consultants, and hold the commissioning team to a high standard on safety and performance

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent relevant experience
• 5+ years leading commissioning in mission-critical facilities
• Experience developing and overseeing commissioning plans, scripts and procedures
• Strong working knowledge of MEP systems, construction means and methods, and installation tolerances
• Ability to read contract documents, Owner Project Requirements, drawings, specifications, schematics and sequences of operation
• Knowledge of NETA guidelines and standards
• Experience with Building Management Systems, including environmental controls and electrical power management systems, plus access control and CCTV
• Familiarity with construction cost forecasting, accrual reporting and pay applications
• Scheduling experience in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, ideally with DCMA 14 or similar assessment tools
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based project management systems
• Clear, confident communication, including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A growth mindset and the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines

Good to know

There will be some minimal travel occasionally to help support other sites ~30% - fully covered.

This is an active construction environment. You’ll need to be comfortable climbing stairs and ladders, riding construction personnel hoists, and moving around areas under construction.

Base Salary: $160,000-$180,000

Bonus: 15%-25%
