Data Center Engineer

About the Role

Sycomp is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Data Center Engineer to join our growing team in Seoul, South Korea on a full-time permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-scale infrastructure projects for some of the world's leading organizations, supporting cutting-edge data center, networking, and technology deployments across multiple customer sites throughout Seoul. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be at the forefront of delivering mission-critical IT infrastructure, working with technologies from leading vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell.

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving complex technical challenges, and taking ownership from deployment through successful customer delivery. You'll work closely with customers, global project teams, and technology partners while gaining exposure to diverse infrastructure environments and international projects.

This role is based across multiple project locations within Seoul and may require occasional international travel depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end data center deployments, including rack installation, equipment mounting, structured cabling, power integration, grounding, labeling, and site readiness activities.
• Install, configure, and validate servers, storage systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networking equipment from leading vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell.
• Perform fiber and copper cabling installation, patching, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Conduct network connectivity validation, hardware health checks, and post-installation acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware, network, and infrastructure issues using a structured problem-solving approach.
• Support break-fix activities, IMAC services (Install, Move, Add, Change), and operational tasks within customer data center environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including rack elevations, asset inventories, network diagrams, test results, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate closely with customers, vendors, project managers, and regional engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with data center operational standards, safety procedures, security requirements, and ESD best practices.
• Participate in after-hours, maintenance window, and emergency support activities when required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, field engineering, or infrastructure deployments.
• Strong experience installing and supporting data center infrastructure, networking equipment, and server hardware.
• Experience performing fiber testing, troubleshooting, and cable validation.
• Ability to interpret rack elevation diagrams, network topology diagrams, and technical implementation plans.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across server, network, cabling, and infrastructure environments.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in fast-paced environments.

Knowledge of:

• Structured cabling systems (fiber & copper)
• Data center rack integration
• Power and patching standards
• LAN/WAN technologies
• Hardware installation and commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise or colocation data centers.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Fortinet NSE, Dell, HPE, or equivalent.
• Experience with large-scale deployment, migration, or infrastructure refresh projects.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and data center best practices.
• Previous experience acting as a technical lead or mentoring junior engineers.

Working Hours : Predominantly regular business hours, with approximately 5-10% after-hours support required based on project schedules, maintenance windows, and project needs.

Travel: Travel domestically within South Korea and internationally as needed to support project delivery and operational requirements.
