Data Center Fiber Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a Data Center Fiber Technician for an urgent expansion project in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role is designed for an experienced specialist with a strong background in critical Data Center Operations, fusion splicing, OTDR link certification, and advanced fault troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities & Hard Skills:

• Fiber Splicing & Termination: Perform precision fusion splicing and termination of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• OTDR & Fiber Testing: Execute advanced fiber testing, link validation, and loss budget analysis using OTDRs, optical light sources, and power meters.
• Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose, isolate, and repair complex physical layer network issues and fiber connectivity faults.
• Data Center Operations: Conduct rack-and-stack activities, fiber patching, structured cable management, and technical documentation according to site standards.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Mid-Senior level experience (3+ years) in Data Center Operations or Critical Telecom Infrastructure.
• Proven, hands-on mastery in Fiber Splicing & Termination, OTDR Testing, and Fault Finding / Troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret complex cabling schematics, floor plans, and rack elevations.
• Must be based in or able to commute daily to Cedar Rapids, IA.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice-to-Have (Preferred):

• Active BICSI Certification (RCDD, DCDC, or Installer/Technician).
• CFOT (Certified Fiber Optics Technician) or equivalent industry certification.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Location & Relocation:

• Position is 100% on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA.
• Candidates must be locally based OR fully willing to self-relocate independently. No relocation assistance, allowance, or reimbursement is provided.
