About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Operation professional to join our team on a contract basis in Johor Bahru, Johor. This role is strategically important to maintaining the integrity, efficiency and security of our data center infrastructure. As a Data Center Operation specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance and support of critical data center systems and facilities. This position plays a vital role in ensuring optimal uptime, performance and compliance across all data center operations, directly supporting the continuity of business-critical services.

Key responsibilities

1. Position Summary
   Provides onsite operational and technical support for data center infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, availability, and smooth operation of critical IT systems and facilities.
2. Key Responsibilities
   Provide onsite support for day-to-day data center operations in a 24x7 and/or 5x8 environment.
   Install, move, add, change, and decommission servers, storage, network, and other IT equipment.
   Perform hardware break-fix activities, including replacement of HDDs, SSDs, memory, motherboards, SFPs, and other server components.
   Manage and maintain structured cabling, including patching and disconnecting network and equipment connections.
   Conduct routine inspections of data center equipment and facilities to ensure operational readiness and compliance with standards.
   Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, infrastructure, and network-related issues, escalating when necessary.
   Support planned maintenance, change activities, and incident response to minimize service disruption.
   Manage inventory, spare parts, assets, tools, and RMA equipment to ensure availability and accuracy.
   Coordinate and supervise vendors, contractors, and site visitors while ensuring compliance with data center procedures.
   Administer data center access requests and maintain security and operational control of the facility.
   Provide operational support for POP sites and participate in on-call and after-hours support when required.
   Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and operational records, while contributing to continuous service improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for

Minimum 0-1 year of experience in Data Center Operations, Data Center Support, or a related infrastructure support environment; fresh graduates with relevant technical knowledge are encouraged to apply.
Basic understanding of data center infrastructure, operations, and best practices.
Experience in server, storage, network, and hardware support, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and break-fix activities.
Knowledge of structured cabling, patch panels, and data center connectivity.
Ability to diagnose issues, perform troubleshooting, and escalate incidents appropriately.
Strong organizational skills with experience in asset, inventory, and spare parts management.
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Ability to work in a 24x7 shift environment, including after-hours and on-call support when required.
5. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to have)
Experience working in a large-scale or mission-critical data center environment.
Knowledge of data center capacity management, including space, power, cooling, and rack allocation.
Familiarity with Incident Management and Change Management processes.
Understanding of data center facilities management, including power and cooling infrastructure.
Industry certifications such as CDCP, ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, Linux+, or CCNA are advantageous.
