Data Center Operator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and detail-oriented Data Center Operator to join our Network Infrastructure & IT Operations team in Hong Kong (Kowloon Bay). Reporting to the Data Center & Infrastructure Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining 24/7 high-availability data center facilities, monitoring server & network infrastructure health, managing backup generator sets (Genset) and electrical distribution, and executing hardware deployment and incident response. Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day data center operations, facility monitoring (HVAC, UPS, rack power, precision cooling), server rack installations, cabling standardizations, and physical asset management.
• Oversee and perform routine inspection, testing, and emergency maintenance on Diesel Generator Sets (Genset), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and low-voltage electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Perform regular periodic reviews, reports, and execution of tasks in compliance with SLA and uptime standards; monitor network/server health 24/7 and handle initial troubleshooting for hardware/power faults.
• Handle intercompany technical operations, vendor escorts, co-location maintenance, and multi-region deployment coordination across regional/global business units.
• Monitor daily workflows, execute routine equipment maintenance/approvals, and assist in operational risk management and disaster recovery rehearsals.
• Coordinate facility & safety audits, assist with ISO/data protection compliance, ensure electrical safety compliance in accordance with EMSD standards, and ensure strict adherence to physical security and operational internal controls.
• Assist in annual capacity planning, power/rack utilization forecasting, performance variance analysis, and prepare management packages to support decision-making.
• Participate in data center automation/monitoring tool updates and continuously optimize operational workflows to enhance operational efficiency.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Registered Electrical Worker (REW) License Grade A (電牌 / A牌) issued by EMSD is required.
• 3 to 5 years of solid professional experience in Data Center Operations, Telecom POPs, Critical Facility Infrastructure, or Electrical/Mechanical Operations.
• Hands-on experience with Genset (Diesel Generator Sets) operation and power systems maintenance.
• Proficient in DCIM tools, Linux/Windows server administration, structured cabling, IP networking (Jira, ServiceNow, Python for scripting) and advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
• High attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, integrity, willingness to support shift/on-call standby duty, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
