The opportunity
Every cloud service, hospital system and financial transaction depends on a critical facility that can’t afford to fail, and quality during construction is where that reliability starts. Our client is a well-established mission critical services firm that makes sure those facilities are built right before the world relies on them.
They are now seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to provide full-time, onsite third-party quality oversight on large-scale data center projects. You’ll report directly to the client, work with the construction team every day, and make sure every contractor and subcontractor delivers to program standards, design documents and specifications.
Data center experience isn’t required. If you have a strong electrical or mechanical background and want to move into one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction, this is a great way in.
About the company
A respected name in data center and critical facilities delivery, known for technical excellence, rigorous process and high standards. They work with leading clients across the industry, run an industry-leading training program, and offer the stability of a large, established organization alongside the culture of a close-knit specialist team.
The travel model
This is a US-wide role, but you won’t be moving from site to site every week. You’ll be based on one project at a time for anywhere from several months up to two years. The rotation is two weeks on site followed by a weekend at home, and all travel and living costs while on assignment are fully covered.
Key responsibilities
- Lead project quality control from kick-off through to hand-off, overseeing implementation of the site QA/QC management system and approved QC Plan
- Perform quality inspections in line with program QC documentation, and coordinate site inspections with subcontractors, vendors and the Contractor QC team
- Verify that site activities comply with design documents, specifications and program standards
- Act as the client’s point of contact on all quality matters, working closely with the client representative and contractor QA/QC teams
- Chair weekly QA/QC site meetings with contractor QC personnel
- Review and report on non-conformance reports and drive remedial action through to close-out
- Manage the distribution, completion and storage of QA/QC documentation, ensuring everything is current and compiled for as-built handover
- Complete and coordinate approval of site QC technical submittals to the client
- Take part in internal and external site audits
- Champion safety and the company’s core values on site
About you

- 5+ years’ hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical systems within construction, building services or industrial environments
- Strong technical knowledge in at least one of electrical or mechanical, with a working understanding of the other strongly preferred

- A track record of driving improved quality and holding contractors to standard
- Confidence working across functional and departmental lines
- Willingness to work long-term site assignments on the rotation above, with occasional international travel as needed

- Background in QA/QC, inspection, or site leadership roles such as foreman or superintendent
- Data center or critical facilities experience, or familiarity with equipment such as switchgear, UPS, generators, busway, air handlers, DX units and BMS

What’s on offer
- Senior, client-facing ownership of quality on complex, high-profile mission critical projects
