About the role

Lead and supervise the facilities team during assigned shifts, ensuring all staff perform their duties to the highest standards. Oversee daily facilities operations including maintenance, cleaning, security coordination, and building systems monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily facilities operations including maintenance, cleaning, security coordination, and building systems monitoring
• Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, and areas requiring attention
• Respond promptly to tenant and occupant requests, complaints and emergencies, ensuring swift resolution and documented follow-up
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and records of maintenance activities, incidents, and operational issues
• Implement and enforce health, safety and security protocols across the facility
• Monitor budgets and report on expenditures related to shift operations
• Train and mentor junior facilities staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Liaise with senior management and provide regular updates on operational performance and any issues arising

About you

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities management or building operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
• Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance protocols, and facilities management best practices
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage and develop team members effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders including tenants, contractors and management
• Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment in responding to operational challenges and emergencies
• Attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Knowledge of health, safety and security regulations relevant to commercial properties
• Proficiency in using facilities management software and computer systems
• Flexibility to work shift-based hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekend availability as required
• Relevant qualifications such as BCLA (Building Control and Licensing Authority) certification or similar facilities management credentials are advantageous
