Data Center Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily data center operations to ensure that all supporting systems operate efficiently on a 24x7 basis, meet the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and comply with data center best practices and international standards, such as Uptime Institute, TIA-942, and BICSI.
• Manage vendors and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for hardware and equipment within the data center. Control operational risks and ensure all activities comply with the Bank’s policies and recognized data center best practices.
• Monitor and maintain the data center’s physical security infrastructure and controls, including physical access control policies, CCTV systems, authentication and authorization procedures, and access-log reviews.
• Collaborate with IT project teams and vendors to develop appropriate solutions, monitor project implementation plans, and ensure proper deployment of infrastructure within the data center, including equipment placement, power consumption, and structured cabling.
• Coordinate with relevant IT departments to monitor, develop, and plan data center capacity and budgets in support of existing and upcoming technology projects.
• Work closely with the Facilities Management team to plan, design, operate, and maintain data center facility systems.
• Interpret and understand electrical Single-Line Diagrams and analyze the root causes of data center facility incidents, including developing corrective and improvement plans and managing related budgets.
• Maintain and continuously improve data center operational procedures, including incident management procedures and data center emergency response plans.
• Provide on-call support during non-business hours for emergencies, such as power outages or failures of critical data center facility systems, and be available to work outside normal business hours when required.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date data center documentation, including asset inventories, data center layouts, floor plans, and rack bay-face diagrams.
• Prepare data center operational and capacity reports, including space capacity, power capacity and utilization, Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), and maintenance reports.
• Support internal and external audit activities related to data center operations, facilities, security, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in operating or managing a large-scale data center environment.
• Familiarity with banking IT infrastructure architecture and data center project management.
• Good knowledge of data center facility systems, including UPS, generators, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC), fire suppression systems, and other critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of internationally recognized data center standards, particularly TIA standards and Uptime Institute requirements.
• Understanding of ITIL practices, including Event Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management.
• Strong vendor management, coordination, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams, facilities teams, project teams, vendors, and auditors.
• Ability to provide on-call support and work outside normal business hours during critical incidents or emergencies.
• Data center professional certifications, such as CDCP, CDCS, or ATS, are preferred but not mandatory.
