Data Center - Technician

About the role

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of critical electrical, mechanical, and facility systems within a data center environment. The role involves monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting system failures, performing repairs, and responding to emergency maintenance requirements in a 24/7 operational facility. The technician will work with critical infrastructure including generators, transformers, UPS systems, HVAC equipment, pumps, motor controls, and various auxiliary systems such as fire detection and alarm systems (FDAS), fire suppression systems (FSS), access control, and CCTV.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, transformers, UPS systems, electrical distribution equipment, and other critical infrastructure.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair failures involving generator sets, air-conditioning systems, pumps, motor controls, and other electro-mechanical equipment.
• Conduct daily inspections and monitor equipment performance, including electrical load, system temperatures, water levels, and other operating parameters.
• Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, and control systems to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision testing instruments to inspect, repair, rebuild, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment schematics.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, inspection reports, and documentation of system changes and repairs.
• Follow established safety, security, maintenance, and operational procedures at all times.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices when performing maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment alarms, failures, and emergency maintenance calls.
