Data Center Technician

Position Summary

The Data Center Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of data centers and critical facilities, including troubleshooting, coordinating activities, managing vendors and contractors, and supporting facility and infrastructure operations.

The role will report to the Data Center Operations Site Lead and work closely with clients, vendors, contractors and internal teams to ensure smooth and reliable data center operations.

Working Hours: 12-hour rotational shifts, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM / 9:00 PM–9:00 AM, including weekends as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate contractors and vendors to support daily data center operations.
• Perform regular data center operations, inspections and monitoring of infrastructure systems, data center environment and facilities.
• Monitor critical facilities and infrastructure system alerts, and carry out the necessary escalation when required.
• Manage incidents and escalate issues relating to facilities and system downtime.
• Manage and administer Service Desk operations.
• Ensure safe systems of work are implemented for all site activities.
• Liaise with client Business Units on utilities, building services, facilities and system-related issues.
• Assist in the planning and execution of disaster recovery activities.
• Maintain and ensure building records, licenses, permits and other relevant documentation are properly updated.
• Ensure procedures, processes and service levels are followed for service delivery and daily operations.
• Conduct periodic reviews of data center operations and report any gaps, issues or areas requiring attention.
• Prepare and update monthly Data Centre and Service Desk reports.
• Maintain the site asset database and provide updates in accordance with CMMS requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.

• Data Centre certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) will be an advantage.

• At least 3 years of experience in Data Centre Operations, Facilities Monitoring and Management.

• Familiarity with data center facilities and critical infrastructure, including:

  • Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC)
  • Fire suppression systems
  • Water detection systems
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
  • Other critical data center infrastructure

• Familiarity with Service Desk operations and incident management processes.

• Basic understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) systems.

• Resourceful, analytical and strong in problem-solving.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
