Data Center Technician / Infrastructure Support Technician

Job Overview

We are hiring a Data Center Technician / Infrastructure Support Technician to provide hands-on support for enterprise data center operations. This role requires experience with servers, network switches, cabling, rack-and-stack, and smart hands support, while working closely with remote engineers and the Network Operations Center (NOC). The position is part of a four-technician team providing 24x7x365 infrastructure support.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support for servers, network switches, and data center infrastructure.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware, networking, and connectivity issues.
• Install, replace, reboot, and verify servers and network equipment.
• Perform rack-and-stack, patching, cable tracing, and structured cabling.
• Serve as onsite Smart Hands for remote engineering teams and NOC.
• Validate equipment status, connectivity, and physical configurations.
• Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and completed work.
• Follow incident, change management, and escalation procedures.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call support.

Required Skills

• 2+ years of experience in Data Center, Infrastructure, Network Support, or Field Services.
• Knowledge of servers, switches, Ethernet, IP networking, ports, and cabling.
• Experience with rack-mounted equipment, patch panels, copper/fiber cabling, and hardware replacement.
• Ability to log into servers and network devices for basic diagnostics.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently onsite and support remote technical teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in enterprise data centers or colocation facilities.
• Cisco networking hardware experience.
• Experience with NOC operations and ITSM/incident management tools.
• Hands-on experience with rack-and-stack and structured cabling.

Schedule

• 12+ month contract with extension potential.
• Hybrid/remote during applicable business hours with required onsite support.
• Must participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation.
• Must be able to reach the data center within 1–2 hours for after-hours incidents.
