Senior AI/Data Engineer (RAG and Document Pipelines)

Fixed-term employment, 6 to 9 months | Germany, remote | €115,000 to €125,000 gross per year

The role

A well-funded international financial services client is scaling its in-house RAG platform and needs a senior engineer to own the data side. Most of the work is building robust ingestion pipelines for large volumes of varied documents, and the team is also exploring a move from standard RAG to graph RAG. This is hands-on, engineering-heavy work that moves quickly.

What you’ll do

• Build and scale ingestion pipelines that turn messy, varied document types into clean, retrieval-ready data
• Work on the move from standard to graph RAG, including the choice of graph technology
• Work alongside the data science team and product owners on a platform that is already live

What you bring

• Strong Python and data engineering experience with unstructured data (PDFs, Office files and other document types)
• Production experience with RAG or LLM-based systems, with OpenAI or Gemini models as standard
• Cloud experience, ideally Azure
• Understanding of graph databases (Neo4j or a managed Azure service). The concepts matter more than a specific platform
• Snowflake is a nice-to-have
• Comfortable in a mix of casual team settings and more formal group meetings

Practicalities

• Fully remote within Germany, with occasional short trips to London roughly every two to three months. A valid passport is needed
• Fixed-term employment contract with Trinnovo Group Europe GmbH (licensed under the AÜG), placed with our client for the duration of the assignment. Paid holiday and sick pay are included
• Start as soon as possible, with the possibility of extension
• Right to work in Germany is required
