Data Consumer Analyst - Cloud Data Warehouse Migration (AWS)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and technically strong Data Consumer Analyst to support a strategic migration from an on-premise data warehouse to an AWS-based cloud data platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and documenting data consumers, data flows, dependencies, and usage patterns across reports, applications, dashboards, and business teams.

This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, data analysis, stakeholder management, and automation skills to ensure seamless migration planning and execution with minimal business disruption.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Python programming and automation scripting.
• Advanced SQL skills with expertise in data analysis, querying, and optimization.
• Experience working with Data Warehouses and Data Lake environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly Amazon S3.
• Proven experience in Data Migration or Cloud Modernization projects.
• Strong understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with ETL processes, data lineage, and dependency analysis.
• Ability to analyze query logs, metadata, and data consumption patterns.
• Experience creating automation tools, scripts, or workflows for data analysis and discovery.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Discover and inventory all data consumers, including reports, dashboards, applications, data pipelines, and business users.
• Perform end-to-end data lineage and dependency mapping across source and target systems.
• Analyze SQL queries, access logs, and usage patterns to identify critical data dependencies.
• Validate active versus obsolete data consumers to support migration and decommissioning decisions.
• Document dependency maps, consumer catalogs, migration risks, and impact assessments.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve data-related ambiguities.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automation solutions to accelerate discovery and analysis activities.
• Support migration planning, testing, cutover readiness, and post-migration validation.
• Identify potential risks, gaps, and business impacts before migration execution.
• Ensure a smooth transition to the AWS cloud data platform while maintaining business continuity.
