Kevin M. Downey

Data Engineer — API, Web Services & Integrations — Full-Time Remote Contract with a U.S. Company
(Variants: Integration Engineer • API Integration Engineer • Data Integration Engineer • EDI Integration Specialist • Technical Data Analyst)
Another remote technology opportunity from Kevin M. Downey…
Are you strong with APIs, SQL, data, and troubleshooting — and want full-time, long-term work with a U.S. company from home? We are looking for a technically skilled and detail-oriented
Data Engineer
to support and expand integration connections for a U.S.-based logistics and retail SaaS company.
You'll work hands-on with
APIs, web services, file-based integrations, data mappings, databases, and transaction flows
connecting retailers, warehouses, vendors, and trading partners. You'll analyze technical specifications, build and maintain integrations, test transactions, investigate failures, and figure out why data isn't moving the way it should.
This is not primarily a project management role.
You'll be the technical person working inside the integrations — analyzing the data, finding the problem, and helping make the connection work.
You'll receive training on the client's integration tools, including mapping software used for file-based translations and web portal tools used for web service integrations.
The Highlights

Full-Time, Long-Term Remote Contract Role
with a U.S. Company

Work From Home
Doing Hands-On API and Data Integration Work

The Work
Day to day, you'll work directly with the systems and data that keep trading partners connected:

— API, Web Service, and File-Based Connections

Analyzing Technical Specifications
— Understanding Retailer, Warehouse, Vendor, and Trading Partner Data Requirements

The Requirements
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys figuring out how systems communicate with each other. If an API response is wrong, a transaction fails, or two systems disagree about the structure of the data, you should be the kind of person who wants to dig in and find out why.

Why
Something Broke — Not Just How to Temporarily Fix It
Our Client
Our client has provided technical integration solutions to the retail, fashion, and wholesale industries for nearly 30 years. Their systems connect retailers, warehouses, vendors, and trading partners and are built around precision, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Their technology supports partnerships involving major retailers including Amazon, Dillard's, ShopBop, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Target, and Walmart.
You'll be working behind the scenes on the integrations and data flows that help those relationships operate accurately and efficiently.
The Recruiting Process
Once we receive your application, one of our recruiters will reach out to confirm your interest and that the role is a fit. From there, we'll learn more about the integrations you've worked with, the tools you use, and how you approach troubleshooting technical data problems.
For this role, we're especially interested in people who can talk us through a
real integration problem they've solved
— what was failing, how they investigated it, what they found, and how they fixed it.
Then it's a client interview, an offer, and the opportunity to take a long-term seat on a U.S. technical team — all while working remotely from home.
