Build Data Products That Help To Change Lives

At MyBudget, data is a product, not a by product. We are looking for a Data Engineer who can build and maintain reliable pipelines, high quality models and automated data flows that help teams make faster, better informed decisions.

This is a hands on role for an engineer who enjoys working deeply in Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, dbt Cloud and Fivetran. You will take meaningful ownership of operational data engineering while helping us strengthen the foundations for self service analytics, connected business tools and future AI enabled use cases.

Your Responsibilities

• Optimize BigQuery tables and SQL workloads for performance and cost using partitioning, clustering, and execution plan analysis.
• Build modular dbt Cloud transformations, leveraging Jinja macros, schema tests, incremental models, and dependency management.
• Maintain Fivetran connectors and reliable ELT pipelines across source systems and the warehouse.
• Develop Reverse ETL workflows to sync BigQuery data with operational platforms (e.g., Ads, Martech, CRM).
• Design dimensional models using Kimball principles (facts, dimensions, SCDs, star/snowflake schemas).
• Maintain a multi-layered warehouse structure (staging,core, business-ready marts).
• Monitor pipeline health, resolve operational issues, and drive Jira tasks to completion.
• Implement idempotent processing, incremental loading, and automated testing to ensure data quality.
• Translate technical trade-offs into clear insights for stakeholders and business leaders.
• Apply AI tools to enhance engineering speed, code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Engineering speed, code quality, documentation, testing, optimisation or problem solving.

What you will bring

• 3+ years of Data or Analytics Engineering experience.
• Advanced analytical SQL skills (window functions, CTEs, JSON parsing).
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, layered warehouse design, and production data quality.
• Proven ability to maintain pipeline health and take operational ownership.
• Hands-on GCP/BigQuery experience (table management, performance, cost control).
• Proven dbt Cloud capability (transformations, testing, macros, documentation).
• Experience with Fivetran, automated ingestion, and Reverse ETL.
• Ability to connect technical work to measurable business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

• Experience collecting or modelling event based application data, including JSON payloads and platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience in financial services, fintech or lending, particularly where governance, compliance and auditability are essential.
• Practical experience with AI assisted engineering tools such as Gemini, dbt Copilot or Claude.

Future Career Opportunities

As you develop deep knowledge of our business domain and technology stack, this role can create a pathway towards Senior Data Engineer or Analytics Engineering Lead. You will build expertise across modern cloud data architecture, data product design, Reverse ETL automation and AI assisted engineering workflows.
