Senior Data Engineer

Location: Austin, TX - Hybrid 4 days per week

Compensation: Up to $170,000 base salary + Bonus

Education: Prefers strong education background in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics or similar

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of the development and evolution of a modern data platform. This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence how data is ingested, modeled, processed, and made available across the organization.

You’ll work across the full data lifecycle — from building reliable ingestion pipelines and developing scalable data models through to data operations and platform development. You’ll have significant ownership over the solutions you build and work closely with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure the data platform supports critical business needs.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer who wants broad technical exposure, meaningful ownership, and the ability to shape the future direction of the data platform.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ingestion frameworks across a range of data sources.
• Develop and optimize data models that support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
• Build and enhance the organization's data platform , contributing to its architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Use Python, SQL, and dbt to develop robust and maintainable data solutions.
• Work extensively within Azure to develop and operate cloud-based data infrastructure.
• Own data engineering projects from initial requirements and technical design through development, deployment, and ongoing operation.
• Develop processes and tooling around data operations, monitoring, quality, and reliability .
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, scalability, and usability of existing data systems.
• Partner closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, Software Engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality data products.
• Help establish and improve engineering standards, development practices, and data architecture across the platform.
• Troubleshoot complex data and pipeline issues and take ownership through to resolution.
• Contribute to the longer-term technical roadmap and evolution of the organization's data ecosystem.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a closely related engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL .
• Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data ingestion processes .
• Strong experience with dbt and modern data transformation practices.
• Experience working with Azure and cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong understanding of data modeling , data architecture, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience with data operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining production data systems.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
