Horizon Digital is a Perth owned and born AI and software consultancy. We build AI, data and software solutions for tier 1 mining, energy and resources companies. When their delivery teams need a little extra lift, we connect them with vetted specialists on contract or perm.

We're seeing strong demand for data engineers across our clients and are building our network ahead of upcoming opportunities. Roles will vary, but this is the kind of work you'd be doing:

What you'll do

• Build and support data pipelines, ingestion and transformations on modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric)
• Work with operational data such as equipment telemetry, IoT and time series, and with data from ERP and other enterprise systems
• Design data models and semantic layers that power Power BI dashboards and executive reporting
• Prepare clean, well governed data for machine learning and AI solutions
• Help set standards for data quality, governance and cost monitoring
• Work closely with architects, analysts and business teams, and help people self serve

What you'll bring

• 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
• Strong SQL and Python (or PySpark)
• Experience with at least one of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric or AWS data services
• Solid data modelling skills (dimensional modelling, Power BI semantic models)
• A practical, friendly way of working with non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Mining, resources, energy or industrial experience, especially with equipment or asset data
• Exposure to MLflow, ML pipelines or GenAI and RAG solutions
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD for data
• Industrial ontologies or semantic modelling
