Data Engineer

Profectus is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Data Engineers for future ICT contract opportunities across the Australian Government. The work is likely to require building and supporting data pipelines on Microsoft Azure, moving data out of legacy systems into new platforms, and preparing data for business systems and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines on cloud data platforms
• Ingest data from source systems, APIs and files into data stores
• Develop data models for operational and reporting use
• Transform and prepare data for analytics and downstream systems
• Apply data quality checks and monitor pipeline performance
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data workloads
• Work with architects, analysts and developers on data requirements
• Document pipelines, data flows and data lineage

Required Experience

• Minimum five years in data engineering roles
• SQL and at least one of Python, Spark or similar
• Microsoft Azure data services such as Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric or Databricks
• Building and supporting production data pipelines
• Data modelling for relational and analytical stores
• Working in Agile delivery teams

Desirable Experience

• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) or Fabric (DP-600) certification
• Infrastructure as code using Bicep or Terraform
• Data governance and metadata management tools such as Microsoft Purview
• High-volume, citizen or registry data sets

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Must hold a current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (minimum)

• Likely hybrid
• Canberra preferred
