Data Engineer – GCP & Customer Data Platform (Zeotap)

6 Month Contract - Remote - Must be based in the UK

£550 - £600 per day | Outside IR35

Our client is building a modern customer data capability on Google Cloud and needs experienced Data Engineers to help bring it to life. They’re looking for someone who can build the data pipelines that feed their Customer Data Platform (Zeotap), giving the business a single, accurate view of every customer.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You’ll be the person making sure customer data from across the business arrives in the right place, in the right shape, reliably and securely, so the marketing and data teams can use it to personalise, segment and target with confidence.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, building and maintaining data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer/Airflow)
• Ingesting and integrating customer data from multiple sources (web, app, CRM, transactions, marketing platforms) into Zeotap
• Building data models and transformations to support a single customer view and audience segmentation
• Supporting identity resolution, data matching and customer profile quality
• Implementing consent and privacy controls in line with GDPR
• Building in data quality checks, monitoring, alerting and error handling
• Working with marketing, analytics and data teams to turn requirements into reliable data products
• Documenting pipelines and creating reusable patterns for future data sources

What you’ll bring

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery
• Experience working with a Customer Data Platform (Zeotap ideally, or Segment, Tealium, mParticle, Salesforce Data Cloud, Adobe or similar)
• Strong SQL and Python skills
• Experience with data orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt)
• An understanding of customer and marketing data, including identity resolution and audience building
• Knowledge of data privacy, consent management and GDPR
• Modern engineering practices: Git, CI/CD and production monitoring

Nice to have

• Direct Zeotap implementation experience
• Streaming data experience (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Kafka)
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Experience in retail, media, telecoms or consumer brands
• GCP certification (e.g. Professional Data Engineer)
