Data Engineer - Data Model Implementation

Support the Clinical OMOP squad in implementing, developing, testing, and deploying FHIR-to-OMOP data model mappings for the Clinical OMOP data platform. Over Q4–Q1, the squad will onboard 6 FHIR profiles (Family Member History, Communication, Goal, Practitioner Role, Care Team, Coverage) into the OMOP Common Data Model, extending the coverage of the Clinical OMOP data platform.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze FHIR resource profiles and source data structures to design source-to-target mappings into applicable OMOP CDM domains and tables
• Develop, test, and validate BigQuery SQL transformation logic and Airflow DAGs to populate OMOP tables from FHIR source data
• Perform data quality validation and reconciliation between source FHIR payloads and resulting OMOP records
• Support UAT, defect triage, and production deployment/release activities for each FHIR profile enablement
• Document mapping decisions, data lineage, and known limitations for each profile
• Collaborate with data engineering, clinical informatics, and product stakeholders to confirm mapping rules against OMOP CDM conventions

Required Skills:

• Strong SQL skills, with hands-on BigQuery experience
• Familiarity with FHIR resource structures and the OMOP Common Data Model
• Experience with Airflow (or comparable orchestration tools) for pipeline development
• Experience in a GCP data analytics environment
• Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent profile workstreams in an agile/sprint-based delivery model
