Data Engineer – Dynamics 365 / Dataverse

Job Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer with experience in cloud data platforms and Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM / Dataverse to support the integration of CRM data into analytics and business intelligence platforms.

The role will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, working with Dataverse data models, preparing analytics-ready datasets, and supporting the delivery of data to Power BI and other analytical solutions. You will collaborate with data, BI, and business stakeholders across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract and integrate Dynamics 365 CRM / Dataverse data from applications such as Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, and Field Service.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines using platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or equivalent technologies.
• Work with the Dataverse data model and CRM entities, including Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, and Cases.
• Query and retrieve Dataverse data using FetchXML, Web API/OData, SQL endpoints, APIs, or equivalent methods.
• Build reliable, analytics-ready datasets for reporting and business intelligence.
• Identify and address CRM-specific data considerations, including soft deletes, state/status codes, plugin-triggered field changes, and polymorphic lookup relationships.
• Prepare data for Power BI semantic models and analytical reporting in collaboration with BI teams.
• Develop and maintain data quality checks, validation processes, testing, reconciliation, and pipeline monitoring.
• Troubleshoot data pipeline and integration issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Document data pipelines, transformation logic, data models, and integration processes.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders across US, EMEA, and APAC time zones.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or in a closely related data role.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud-based data platforms and building or maintaining data pipelines.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and/or Dataverse, particularly in data extraction, integration, or data modeling.
• Working knowledge of the Dataverse data model and common CRM entities, such as Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, and Cases.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Strong Python skills for data engineering, automation, or data processing.
• Experience with one or more modern data platforms, such as:
• Microsoft Fabric
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Databricks
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Snowflake
• Similar cloud data platforms
• Willingness and ability to work night shift or flexible hours to support global stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with dimensional data modeling, data marts, star schemas, snowflake schemas, and slowly changing dimensions (SCD).
• Experience using Synapse Link for Dataverse or another managed Dataverse data export/integration approach.
• Proficiency with FetchXML and Dataverse Web API/OData.
• Experience handling Dataverse-specific data behavior, including soft deletes, state/status codes, plugin-triggered changes, and polymorphic lookups.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, including semantic models and DAX.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2) or similar cloud storage technologies.
• Experience implementing data quality, validation, testing, and monitoring processes.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-700, or DP-203.
• Experience working in CPG, life sciences, healthcare, wellness, or other data-intensive industries.
