Data Engineer (Elixir / Ruby) - Remote

About the role

We are seeking a Mid-to-Senior Data Operations Engineer to take complete ownership of our modern data architecture and pipeline products. In this fully remote role, you will build resilient data ingestion pipelines, manage complex schemas, and optimize system performance using a cutting-edge stack that includes Elixir, Python, dbt, and Airflow.

Key responsibilities

• Own and support data-related products to meet demanding business, client, and developer requirements.
• Implement robust source management through precise data generation and strict schema management.
• Define, build, and optimize data ingestion pipelines that normalize and transform high-volume client data to fit our standardized core schema.
• Ensure strict data quality standards and collaborate directly with clients to configure the platform to their specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement in our data operations using modern frameworks, orchestration tooling (Airflow, dbt, Broadway), and AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate actively in an agile, remote-first environment, emphasizing thorough documentation, active communication, and test-and-learn problem-solving.

About you

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using Elixir or Ruby for data-related projects in a production environment (Mandatory requirement).
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Analyst, or Full-stack programming role working directly with Big Data systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Elixir.
• Solid experience with relational database technologies (such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, etc.) and a deep understanding of database internals.
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) at the API level.
• Experience working with MongoDB or other non-relational database solutions.
• Solid understanding of security-related development best practices, particularly around Personally Identifiable Information (PII) protection.
• Advanced proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries.
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage, structure your own time and commitments, and deliver results in a highly technical, remote-first environment.
