This role is primarily focused on developing high-quality dashboards, reports, KPIs and reusable semantic models. The successful candidate will also contribute to data preparation, validation and selected Fabric-based delivery activities while developing broader analytics engineering capability under the guidance of senior team members.
Key responsibilitiesPower BI development (primary focus)

? Translate business requirements into clear, intuitive and actionable visualisations using appropriate chart types, drill-through, tooltips and navigation patterns.
? Develop and optimise DAX measures, calculated columns, calculation logic and KPI definitions.
? Build and maintain reusable semantic models and shared datasets that support consistent reporting across multiple business use cases.
? Implement Row-Level Security and other agreed data-access controls in Power BI solutions.
? Improve report performance, usability and maintainability through model optimisation, query reduction and disciplined report design.
? Support controlled self-service analytics by creating documented, reusable and business-friendly reporting assets.
Data preparation and quality
? Develop data transformation and preparation logic using Power Query and, where appropriate, Dataflows Gen2.
? Connect to and combine data from approved business applications, files, databases and analytics platforms.
? Perform data profiling, cleansing, validation and reconciliation to confirm that reports are complete and reliable.
? Document data sources, transformation steps, calculation logic and known limitations.
? Support user acceptance testing, defect resolution and controlled release of reporting solutions.
Microsoft Fabric exposure and development
? Use selected Microsoft Fabric capabilities such as Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Warehouse and semantic models as part of guided delivery activities.
? Support migration and modernisation of existing reporting solutions into standard Fabric and Power BI patterns.
? Assist with monitoring refreshes, investigating routine failures and escalating platform issues with clear evidence.
Stakeholder collaboration
? Work with business users to clarify reporting needs, measures, acceptance criteria and expected outcomes.
? Demonstrate completed reports, incorporate structured feedback and support adoption through concise user guidance.
? Collaborate with senior analytics engineers, data engineers and subject-matter experts on larger initiatives.
Required qualifications and experience
The following capabilities are essential for effective performance in the role:
? 2-5 years of relevant experience in Power BI, business intelligence, analytics or reporting development.
? Hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, including data modelling, report development and publishing.
? Working knowledge of DAX and Power Query, with the ability to build and troubleshoot common reporting calculations and transformations.
? Practical SQL skills for querying, joining, filtering, aggregating and validating relational data.
? Understanding of relational data concepts and basic dimensional modelling, including facts, dimensions and star schemas.
? Evidence of good dashboard design, attention to detail and the ability to explain findings clearly.
? Ability to work with business users, document requirements and participate in testing and issue resolution.
? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Good to have
These capabilities are valuable but are not mandatory. Candidates with strong transferable experience and the ability to learn are encouraged to apply.
? Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Warehouse, pipelines or semantic models.
? Experience with Power BI Service, workspaces, refresh configuration, gateways, deployment pipelines or app distribution.
? Familiarity with Row-Level Security, performance optimisation and reusable semantic-model design.
? Exposure to Azure data services, Git, Azure DevOps, Python or Microsoft Copilot capabilities for Power BI and Fabric.
? Experience with enterprise reporting, self-service BI or controlled reporting standards.
? Awareness of data quality, data lineage, medallion architecture or Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers.
Preferred experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be viewed favourably:
? Experience in engineering, project delivery, project controls, finance, operations, supply chain or similar enterprise domains.
? Experience working in distributed or international teams and communicating with stakeholders across locations and time zones.
? Familiarity with Agile delivery, structured backlog management or formal user acceptance testing.
? Relevant Microsoft certification, completed learning path or demonstrable portfolio of Power BI work.
Key competencies
? Analytical thinking and problem solving
? Data visualisation and storytelling
? Attention to detail and quality
? Clear written and verbal communication
? Collaboration and stakeholder orientation

? Build practical capability in Microsoft Fabric and analytics engineering.
Ideal candidate profile
You are a hands-on Power BI practitioner who enjoys turning business questions into clear and reliable reporting. You have solid foundations in SQL and data preparation, take quality seriously and want to broaden your skills in Microsoft Fabric and analytics engineering. You are comfortable asking questions, documenting your work and learning from experienced colleagues.
Working approach
