Data Engineer (Python/Elixir) - Remote

About the role

We are seeking a Mid-to-Senior Data Operations Engineer to take ownership of our modern data architecture, operational data products, and processing pipelines. In this fully remote role, you will build resilient data ingestion pipelines, manage complex schemas, and optimize system performance using a modern stack featuring Python, Pandas, dbt, Airflow, SQL, and AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Define, build, and optimize high-volume data ingestion pipelines that normalize, transform, and clean raw client data into standardized core schemas
• Implement robust source data management, enforce schema validation rules, monitor pipeline health, and maintain strict data quality standards
• Collaborate directly with internal engineering teams and external enterprise clients to configure data flows and resolve data ingestion edge cases
• Drive continuous improvement across our data operations using modern frameworks, orchestration tooling (Airflow, dbt), and cloud infrastructure
• Operate proactively in an agile, remote-first environment with a strong emphasis on documentation, clear communication, and iterative problem-solving

About you

• 3+ years of dedicated experience in Data Engineering, Data Operations, or Data Analytics roles working with production ETL/ELT pipelines and Big Data systems
• Strong Python proficiency with hands-on experience using data manipulation libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or similar data processing frameworks
• Proven experience with pipeline orchestration & transformation tools, specifically Apache Airflow and dbt
• Advanced SQL expertise with a strong understanding of relational database design, query optimization, and database internals (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Hands-on experience implementing end-to-end data pipelines—focusing on schema management, data cleaning, and automated monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to manage your own time, take ownership of issues, and deliver results in a highly technical, remote-first environment
• Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment (preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) data and infrastructure services (S3, API-level integration, CloudWatch) (preferred)
• Exposure to NoSQL database solutions (e.g., MongoDB) (preferred)
• Familiarity with data security best practices, particularly around handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (preferred)
• Basic familiarity with Elixir, Ruby, or functional programming paradigms (a minor plus, but not required).
