Data Engineering Intern

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Enterprise Applications Manager, the Data Engineering Intern will provide support related to enterprise data platform initiatives and supporting technologies. Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT, the Data Engineering Intern will gain an understanding of business processes and assist in the development, maintenance, and modernization of data solutions that support reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives. Primary focus will be placed on data integration, pipeline development, data quality, analytics, and business intelligence solutions utilizing Microsoft Fabric and related technologies.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in developing and maintaining data ingestion and integration pipelines.
• Support the creation and maintenance of Microsoft Fabric Lakehouses, Dataflows, Notebooks, and Pipelines.
• Help transform, cleanse, validate, and model data to improve quality, usability, and accessibility.
• Assist in the design and implementation of Bronze, Silver, and Gold layer data solutions.
• Support Power BI dashboard, reporting, and semantic model development.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and support analytics initiatives.
• Participate in data governance efforts, including data cataloging, documentation, lineage, and quality improvement activities.
• Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of data integrations, analytics solutions, and enterprise data products.
• Explore opportunities to leverage AI and automation technologies to improve business processes and operational efficiency.
• Support proof-of-concept projects involving Microsoft Fabric, Copilot, and emerging data technologies.
• Create and maintain project and technical documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Internship ideal for candidates pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Python or another programming language.
• Working knowledge of data structures, data analysis concepts, and data modeling principles.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Power BI, or cloud technologies, a plus.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts, data integrations, APIs, or source control platforms such as Git, a plus.
• Interest in AI, machine learning, automation technologies, or enterprise analytics, a plus.
