Data Engineering Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT leader to drive business relationship management, portfolio strategy, and modern data engineering initiatives. This role combines strong technical expertise, strategic planning, and people leadership to align technology solutions with business objectives while building and leading high-performing teams.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience within Information Technology, including at least 5 years in areas such as business relationship management, portfolio management, strategic planning, roadmap development, or demand management.
• 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing IT functions, customer engagement, portfolio strategy, and technology delivery initiatives.
• 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams, application development groups, or large-scale technology programs.
• Demonstrated success building, developing, and managing high-performing, cross-functional teams.
• Strong project and program management skills with the ability to successfully deliver multiple complex, enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Proven experience partnering with business stakeholders to solve complex operational and strategic challenges through technology solutions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
• Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, dynamic environments where priorities and information may evolve rapidly.
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans, processes, and programs related to business relationship management and technology demand management.

Technical & Leadership Expertise

• Deep knowledge of modern data engineering platforms, cloud technologies, and enterprise data ecosystems, with preferred experience in Databricks and related analytics technologies.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data governance, automation, AI-enabled solutions, and emerging technology trends.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to connect technology investments to measurable business outcomes.
• Collaborative leadership style with demonstrated success working across technical and non-technical teams.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI, automation, and modern data capabilities to improve business performance.
• Leadership approach centered on empathy, ownership, accountability, and a people-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or advanced business degree.
• Experience within the Financial Services industry.
• Background in IT planning, strategic technology management, and business relationship management.
• Experience working within a matrixed organizational structure.
• Experience with product development, product management, and digital transformation initiatives.
