Data Governance Specialist

We are looking for

We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to improve data quality, consistency, ownership, and trust across the organization. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into practical governance processes and ensuring they are implemented using modern AWS data services.

What you will do:

• Collaborating with business stakeholders and data teams to define business terms, KPIs, data requirements, and governance priorities.
• Facilitating workshops and driving decisions on data definitions, ownership, and responsibilities.
• Building and maintaining the business glossary and identifying critical data domains and assets.
• Coordinating data owners and stewards, governance meetings, and action tracking.
• Developing and maintaining data governance policies and standards covering access, classification, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
• Defining data quality rules, monitoring results, and coordinating data issues and change requests.
• Working hands-on with Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio to manage the data catalog, business glossary, domains, projects, and data products.
• Collaborating with data engineering teams to implement governance decisions through technical controls, metadata, and access policies.
• Tracking governance KPIs and supporting awareness and training across the organization.

What you need to have:

• Experience in data governance, data management, BI, data architecture, or data quality.
• Solid understanding of data governance concepts, including ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
• Experience facilitating workshops, engaging stakeholders, and driving decisions.
• Understanding of data platforms and data lake or warehouse architectures.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Romanian and English.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with AWS data services, such as SageMaker Unified Studio, Amazon DataZone, AWS Glue Data Catalog, or Lake Formation.
• Familiarity with governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience implementing a data governance framework.
• Knowledge of GDPR and energy-sector regulations.
• Relevant certifications, such as DAMA CDMP.
