We are transitioning from a centralized to a federated data governance model, where each business domain takes ownership of our own governance program with support from the Group Data Governance team.

As part of this transformation, the organization is seeking a Domain Data Steward to ensure metadata management, data quality, and compliance across a specific domain's data assets.

You will embed governance practices into day-to-day operations, maintain the enterprise data catalog, and automate tooling updates across a large and dynamic application ecosystem.

GOALS AND DELIVERABLES

• Document domain data assets accurately in the enterprise data catalog.

• Manage metadata processes including business glossary terms, data lineage, and definitions to ensure proper data usage across the pipeline.

• Maintain data lineage, tracking user interactions and transformations across applications.

• Identify and implement automation to keep governance tools and metadata in sync with evolving data flows.

• Update and maintain business terms within the metadata management tool.

• Support the classification and tagging of sensitive or critical data, and identify the repositories that hold it.

• Monitor key data quality indicators (DQIs) and collaborate with business and IT to resolve data issues.

• Define and enforce data standards, business rules, and validation checks in partnership with business and IT stakeholders.

• Act as the point of contact for data governance activities within the domain.

• Work closely with the data governance lead, business data owners, domain SMEs, business analysts, and IT teams.

• Promote data literacy and governance awareness across domain teams.

• Gather stakeholder needs (IT and non-IT), ensure proper prioritization, and maintain a delivery roadmap.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of experience in data management, business analysis, or a similar role.

• Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management.

• Familiarity with data governance tools (data catalogs, data quality/observability platforms).

• Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, and/or similar languages for back-end scripting and automation.

• Minimal knowledge of Git (branches, GitHub or GitLab).

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical stakeholders.

• Attention to detail, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to learn quickly, with a mindset of continuous improvement.

• Desirable Skills

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.

• Experience working in a federated data governance or decentralized data environment.

• AI-assisted workflow awareness

strategic/lead governance profiles have been declined.

Python scripting is important, someone who executes within an established framework rather than redesigning it. Familiarity with modern catalog tools expected;

AI workflow awareness is a plus."
