About BSM Partners

BSM Partners is the world's largest consultancy focused on the pet care industry. BSM Partners engineers the infrastructure the pet care industry runs on — science, nutrition, regulatory affairs, veterinary medicine, engineering, supply chain, consumer intelligence, and media operating as one integrated system, staffed by domain experts who have spent their careers building the standards the industry now follows.

Our research program and partnerships with leading industry organizations give us a unique view of the market. We combine deep industry expertise with data, technology, and strategic thinking to help our clients make better decisions and build better businesses.

Position Overview

BSM Partners is seeking a Data Insights and Infrastructure Lead to build and manage the infrastructure that enables data to flow efficiently across the organization and ultimately become actionable business intelligence.

This role will be responsible for building the pipelines, integrations, connections, tools, and systems that collect and organize data from multiple sources and make it reliable, accessible, and ready for analysis.

A major focus will be BSM Partners' expanding NIQ reporting initiative, including web-enabled dashboards and automated reporting capabilities. The Data Insights and Infrastructure Lead will play a critical role in building, operating, and maintaining the systems that support this effort — ensuring that data is reliable, accessible, well-governed, and ready to be transformed into insights.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges, building systems from the ground up, and partnering with analysts and business leaders to turn data into useful information.

What You'll Do

Data Infrastructure

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, databases, integrations, and data infrastructure.
  • Connect internal systems with external data sources, APIs, and third-party platforms.
  • Build reliable processes for ingesting, transforming, validating, and organizing data.
  • Establish systems that allow data to flow efficiently from source systems into analytical and reporting environments.
  • Monitor data pipelines and integrations to identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, and performance issues.
  • Automate manual data collection, transformation, reporting, and administrative workflows.
  • Build infrastructure that can scale as BSM Partners' data needs and client requirements grow.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies and tools that improve data infrastructure, automation, and analytical capabilities.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Build and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and data products used across the organization.
  • Support the development of web-enabled dashboards, particularly as part of the NIQ reporting initiative.
  • Develop automated reporting solutions that reduce manual work while maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
  • Create repeatable processes for turning raw data into analysis-ready datasets.
  • Work closely with analysts to understand their data requirements and build the infrastructure necessary to support them.
  • Help establish KPIs, data definitions, measurement frameworks, and standardized reporting methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how the organization accesses, interprets, and uses data.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Establish and maintain data governance standards, documentation, definitions, and best practices.
  • Develop processes that improve data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability.
  • Establish appropriate controls for data access, security, and integrity.
  • Document data sources, pipelines, transformations, business rules, and dependencies.
  • Develop systems and processes that create confidence in the data being used for business and client decisions.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data infrastructure, analytics systems, and business intelligence.
  • Translate analytical and business needs into technical solutions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities where improved data infrastructure can create business value.
  • Translate technical concepts and data limitations into clear, practical business language.
  • Take ownership of data initiatives from initial requirements through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Help establish best practices for data management and analytics infrastructure across BSM Partners.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data infrastructure, business intelligence, analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing data pipelines, integrations, databases, and analytical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and system integrations.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms, particularly Power BI.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
  • Experience with Python, R, or another programming language used for data engineering or analytics.
  • Experience automating data and reporting workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valuable:

  • NIQ / NielsenIQ data
  • Consumer packaged goods or retail data
  • Consumer and market intelligence
  • Power BI and web-enabled dashboards
  • API integrations and third-party data platforms
  • Cloud data warehouses and data lakes
  • Workflow orchestration and data automation
  • Enterprise reporting systems
