What they need

Cifas is the UK’s leading fraud prevention service, managing the largest database of instances of fraudulent conduct in the country. Our members are organisations from all sectors, sharing their data across those sectors to reduce instances of fraud and financial crime. Operating as a not-for-profit means our teams put all their efforts into our mission of fighting fraud, rather than creating a financial return for shareholders.

Fraud presents a serious and significant threat to the UK and our role in protecting businesses, the public and the economy from fraud is now more important than ever before. As a result, we have ambitious plans to innovate and create new services and products that will significantly improve the way that we and our members tackle fraud.

Our employees play a crucial part in ensuring we remain the UK's leading fraud prevention service, whilst also ensuring our members remain at the heart of everything we do.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Integrity Officer to join Cifas and play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of our databases. Combining analysis, investigation and attention to detail, the role will review data and emerging trends, respond to consumer complaints in line with data protection legislation, and identify improvements that strengthen the quality and accuracy of information held within our databases.

Responsibilities & accountabilities:

Working alongside industry specialists, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert guidance to Cifas members on data processes, delivering a positive member experience and maintaining trust and confidence in Cifas services.
  • Reviewing cases and matches to ensure the required standard of proof has been met, results are returned correctly through the relevant delivery channel, and appropriate action is taken to maintain high-quality data.
  • Managing and resolving consumer complaints consistently and professionally, working with members where appropriate and representing Cifas in line with our values.
  • Managing escalated Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and review members’ Fair Processing Notices, ensuring data is handled and filed in accordance with relevant legislation and has an appropriate legal basis.
  • Proactively identifying data-quality issues, patterns, anomalies and root causes within Cifas databases, working collaboratively with colleagues and using management information to support effective resolution.
  • Recommending improvements to processes and data practices, identifying inefficiencies and clearly demonstrating the value and impact of proposed changes.
  • Making informed and considered decisions across cases, complaints, DSARs and Fair Processing Notices, clearly communicating the rationale to members, consumers and other stakeholders within agreed service levels.
  • Representing the Data Integrity Officer team at Cifas project and product development meetings, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring Data Integrity Operations considerations are effectively represented.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree or equivalent level qualification, or relevant professional experience within fraud prevention, financial crime, data integrity or a related environment.
  • A strong understanding of fraud prevention, financial crime, the use of Cifas data and relevant Data Protection legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge of Cifas Handbooks, systems and how members access and use Cifas data.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with excellent attention to detail and the tenacity to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and appropriately challenge with tact and diplomacy.
  • The confidence to take ownership, exercise sound judgement and work collaboratively, while demonstrating integrity, empathy, confidentiality and professionalism.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to agreed service levels, deadlines and team targets, alongside strong Microsoft 365 skills, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.

In return we offer:

In return for helping us take the fight to fraud, all our employees receive an impressive benefit package, which includes:

  • Remote working with approximately 2 days a month in the London office
  • Generous annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Private healthcare
  • Excellent pension package through salary sacrifice
  • Personal and professional growth
  • Employee wellbeing – Wellbeing breaks, wellbeing hub access including exercise programmes, meditation guides, sleep stories and yoga.

We have introduced agile ways of working, allowing teams to decide how best they work, while ensuring regular opportunities to collaborate and innovate. We create an environment to help you to unleash your potential and perform the most rewarding work of your career, whilst keeping your wellbeing at the foremost with initiatives in place to promote the wellness of our people.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture and have dedicated inclusion champions across the business to celebrate and promote our uniqueness. We also have a dedicated team of volunteers looking for innovative ways to give back as part of our commitments under our Corporate Social Responsibility. Since 2021, we have been recognised in the Best Companies listings, and again in 2026 have been awarded 2 stars for outstanding levels of engagement. We have also been awarded the Investors in People Gold accreditation.

If you are passionate about our purpose and would like an opportunity to make a valuable contribution to fraud prevention, we would like to hear from you.
