Data Manager

Position Overview

The IT Data Manager (Personal Investors IT) ensures operational compliance with data‑management provisions for Personal Investors, focusing on Know‑Your‑Data (KYD), data modelling and data quality. Working in partnership with the Data Domain Manager and the CDO Office, the role maintains the completeness and consistency of the Personal Investors Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and supports business growth by delivering high‑quality data that meets regulatory (e.g., BCBS 239) and BNP Paribas group standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Inventory and maintain Application Data Models (ADD) and logical data flows (data lineage) in the Enterprise Data Management tool (WeData) and the PI KYD application.
• Ensure business‑logical conformity of conceptual and application data models with the KYD information model for the assigned business domain.
• Champion compliance with the Personal Investors IT Data Governance framework within the DCIO‑sub‑CoE.
• Collaborate with the Data Domain Manager and CDO Office to implement data‑quality controls and remediate identified data‑quality issues.
• Engage with IT Responsible and Business Application Owners during KYD reviews to validate the business context of data assets.
• Support business teams (tribes, projects, functions) in interpreting the business meaning of data assets.
• Maintain accurate and complete metadata for critical data and technical attributes in the relevant dictionaries.
• Assist the CDO Office in defining and applying appropriate data‑quality controls throughout a data asset’s lifecycle and lineage.

Required Education, Skills, AND Experience (MUST‑HAVE)

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in data governance and data protection.
• Strong analytical capability with a detail‑oriented, structured working style.
• Proficiency in data‑engineering technologies (e.g., SQL, ETL development).
• Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Demonstrated ability to explain and visualise complex data contexts to diverse stakeholders.
• Critical thinking, self‑reliance and a proactive attitude toward compliance and quality.

Preferred Education, Skills, AND Experience (NICE‑TO‑HAVE)

• Experience with architecture‑modelling tools such as Sparx EA or Collibra.
• Background in software development, data engineering or broader data‑management functions.
• Knowledge of banking industry processes and securities trading.
• Experience working in a data‑quality or data‑modeling function within a financial institution.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with confident stakeholder engagement.
