Data Migration Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess on-premises workloads and plan homogeneous/heterogeneous database migrations to AWS.
• Convert schemas, stored procedures, and SQL across database engines.
• Design secure AWS target environments (RDS, Aurora, EC2) and execute cutover/rollback plans.
• Automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code and tune performance post-migration.
• Triage and resolve high-priority incident (P2) tickets through advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Ensure SLA compliance for assigned technology areas and manage proactive escalation.
• Analyze system performance data, coordinate findings on system behavior, and support capacity planning initiatives.
• Create mitigation measures and evaluate new tools or improvements in collaboration with technical teams.
• Perform security assessments, recovery drills, and implement controls to ensure compliance with established security standards.
• Participate in weekly and monthly service review meetings and support stakeholder communication.
• Contribute to updating SOPs, knowledge articles, and maintaining the knowledge repository.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve open tickets and service requests.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related roles.

Core Technical Skills – Databases:

• Proficiency in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Db2.
• Strong SQL writing and performance tuning capabilities.

Core Technical Skills – AWS Migration:

• Hands-on experience with AWS DMS, SCT, RDS, Aurora, EC2, and S3.
• Solid understanding of VPC, IAM, networking, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

Core Technical Skills – Security & Compliance:

• Experience with KMS, SSL/TLS encryption, and least-privilege IAM policies.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

Core Technical Skills – Automation:

• Experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code.
• Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
• Monitoring experience with AWS CloudWatch.

AI & Emerging Technology Skills:

• Experience using Generative AI / LLMs for translating proprietary SQL dialects (e.g., Oracle PL/SQL to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools for generating, explaining, and debugging migration scripts.
• Knowledge of ML-based assessment and discovery tools for workload analysis and target sizing.
• Experience with AI-driven performance monitoring for anomaly detection and post-migration optimization.
• Prompt engineering skills for accurate, context-aware AI assistance.
• Strong validation mindset to identify AI-generated errors, hallucinations, and subtle logic bugs.
• Awareness of downstream AI/ML pipelines, data lakes, and vector databases.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Clear and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Project management awareness and ability to manage competing priorities.

Nice to Have:

• AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification.
• Enterprise-scale database migration experience.

Work Details:

• Location: Bengaluru (BLR) or Hyderabad (HYD) – 5 days Work From Office.
• Shift: Regular business hours.
• Compensation: ₹90,000/month (contract).
