Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Data Operations Engineer to join our Data Operations Team and take ownership of data-related products that support business and engineering needs.

In this role, you will design and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines, manage data schemas, ensure data quality, and help evolve data operations frameworks and tooling. You will work closely with engineering teams and customers in a remote, collaborative environment that values automation, clear documentation, continuous learning, and customer-focused problem solving.

Our modern technology stack includes Elixir, Ruby, Python, dbt, Airflow, Broadway, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage source data through data generation, schema management, and source configuration.
• Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines that normalize and transform client data into standardized schemas.
• Implement data validation and quality processes to ensure reliable and consistent datasets.
• Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot data-related issues in production.
• Work directly with customers to understand data requirements, resolve issues, and configure the platform accordingly.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to gather feedback and continuously improve data operations.
• Apply automation, testing, and operational best practices to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate project updates, questions, and issues effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through experimentation, feedback, and iterative problem-solving.

Required Experience

• 2+ years of professional production experience using Elixir or Ruby for data-related projects.
• 2–3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Full-Stack Development, or a similar technical role involving large-scale or complex datasets.
• Experience implementing data engineering processes across both technical development and team collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQLite.
• Experience developing data pipelines, integrations, or data processing workflows.
• Strong SQL experience with an understanding of database fundamentals and internals.

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
• Experience working with AWS at the API or application level.
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience developing systems that handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Experience with data security and privacy controls.
• Experience with modern data transformation and orchestration tools.

Required Skills

• Elixir or Ruby development in a production data environment

• SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL

• Data ingestion, transformation, pipeline development, and data quality
