Data Platform Architect

At Elysium Digital, we help government and enterprise organisations turn data ambitions into practical, scalable solutions. As demand for our data services continues to grow, we're looking for a Data Platform Architect to join our team.

This is not a pure enterprise architecture or governance role.

We're looking for an architect who enjoys working where architecture meets delivery. Someone who can design the right solution, guide implementation, coach engineering teams and help clients build modern data platforms that deliver value quickly and sustainably.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Principal Data Platform Architect, you will:

• Design modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Power BI.
• Define pragmatic architecture patterns that engineering teams can successfully implement.
• Lead platform modernisation and migration initiatives from Synapse, SQL Server and legacy data platforms.
• Design lakehouse, warehouse and semantic model architectures.
• Establish security, governance, metadata, lineage and access control patterns.
• Coach data engineers and technical teams throughout implementation.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects and delivery teams to solve complex data challenges.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance across multiple concurrent engagements.
• Help clients make informed technology decisions by balancing capability, cost and complexity.
• Contribute to Elysium's reusable patterns, accelerators and delivery approaches.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Australian Citizenship and willing to acquire AGSVA security clearances
• Significant experience as a Data Architect, Data Platform Architect, Lead Data Engineer or similar role.
• Recent hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric including:
• OneLake
• Lakehouses
• Warehouses
• Data Factory
• Pipelines
• Notebooks
• Deployment Pipelines
• Workspace and Capacity Management
• Strong understanding of the broader Microsoft data ecosystem including:
• Power BI
• Azure Synapse
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure SQL
• Microsoft Purview
• Entra ID
• Experience delivering data platform migrations and modernisation programs.
• Strong data modelling capability across lakehouse, warehouse and semantic layers.
• Experience implementing governance, security, metadata and lineage as part of platform design.
• Ability to lead engineering teams and guide implementation activities.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS or GCP data platforms.
• Government sector experience.
• AGSVA security clearance or eligibility.
• Microsoft certifications such as DP-600, DP-700 or AZ-305.
