Data Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Data Platform Engineer to join our growing data team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing modern data platform solutions across cloud and hybrid environments. You will work closely with data engineers, architects, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable data capabilities that support reporting, analytics, AI, and business decision-making.

The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in cloud-based data platforms with a passion for automation, governance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data platform solutions using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and related technologies.

Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines using modern ETL/ELT practices.

Develop and maintain scalable Lakehouse architectures, ensuring performance, security, cost efficiency, and data quality.

Support data modeling initiatives across analytical and reporting layers to enable reliable business insights.

Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational best practices for data platforms.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions while promoting governance, security, and compliance standards.

Contribute to platform architecture discussions, technology evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases by providing reliable and scalable data foundations.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and its core data, analytics, networking, identity, and security services.

Hands-on experience with Databricks, Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and workspace administration.

Experience designing and implementing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and dbt.

Strong data modeling skills, including analytical and dimensional modeling concepts.

Proficiency in Python and SQL.

Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and modern CI/CD practices.

Strong understanding of data governance, security, metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks.

Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.

Understanding of platform monitoring, performance optimization, logging, and operational support.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within Agile teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and integration with Databricks.

Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or other BI and reporting tools.

Experience with API integrations, event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, or data virtualization technologies such as Dremio.

Knowledge of Scala or Java.

Understanding of Machine Learning, MLOps, Generative AI, and Responsible AI concepts.

Experience designing hybrid cloud and on-premises data solutions.
