Job Title: Data Protection Associate

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive Data Protection Associate to support and contribute to the organizations data protection initiatives. The role focuses on assisting in the implementation and management of data protection solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments, while gaining hands-on experience with security platforms and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in executing data protection strategies covering data at rest, in motion, and in use.
• Must have strong MicroSoft Purview experience.
• Support data discovery, classification, labeling, access governance, data loss prevention (DLP), insider risk monitoring, and cloud data protection operations.
• Participate in the configuration and maintenance of platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Varonis, or Cyera.
• Help enforce consistent data protection policies across email, endpoints, cloud storage, collaboration tools, and SaaS applications.
• Support data protection monitoring, alert triage, investigation, and incident response activities.
• Assist in documenting processes, maintaining runbooks, and generating regular compliance reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including SOC, IR, Legal, and Compliance.
• Learn to leverage AI/ML or generative AI tools to enhance data classification, risk analysis, and automation of routine tasks.
• Communicate effectively with technical teams and contribute to reporting data risk and protection status.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (BE, B.Tech) or related discipline.
• 2-4 years professional experience in IT security, data protection, or related fields.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Familiarity with data protection concepts and basic exposure to tools such as Microsoft Purview, Varonis, or similar.
• Basic understanding of data lifecycle and privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Interest or initial experience in AI/ML applied to security is a plus.
