Data Scientist (Image Processing) - SCGP

Job Summary

Research and evaluate emerging Computer Vision and Image Processing technologies for industrial and manufacturing applications. Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to validate technical feasibility and business value, and translate research findings into practical solutions for SCGP.

Job Description

• Research and evaluate emerging technologies in Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
• Collaborate with SCGP business units and plant teams to identify and define computer vision use cases.
• Develop prototypes and conduct Proof-of-Concept (PoC) studies to assess technical feasibility and potential business value.
• Develop and validate computer vision models for applications such as defect detection, object detection, image classification, segmentation, and anomaly detection.
• Prepare and manage image datasets, including image acquisition, labeling, augmentation, and data quality validation.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics such as precision, recall, F1-score, IoU, and mAP.
• Support deployment and integration of computer vision models into manufacturing workflows, including edge inference and model monitoring.
• Analyze complex packaging and manufacturing defects, including cases with limited or challenging datasets.
• Document research findings, technical results, and recommendations for further development and implementation.
• Work closely with production, quality, IT, and business teams to translate technical research into practical solutions with measurable business potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Science, or other related fields. (Bachelor GPA > 2.70, Master GPA > 3.30)
• Over 1–3 years of relevant experience in Data Science, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine Learning, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of Image Processing and Computer Vision, including image enhancement, segmentation, feature extraction, object detection, image classification, and anomaly detection.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning, including CNNs, Vision Transformers, transfer learning, supervised/unsupervised learning, and model evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant frameworks/libraries such as OpenCV, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow; knowledge of deployment, edge inference, MLOps, and version control is an advantage.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Good command of English in verbal and written communication (TOEIC > 550).
• Willing to work onsite at SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (Bang Sue, Bangkok).
