Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Database Administrator at ORAS – Online Research Assistance Services. The Database Administrator will manage and maintain the organization’s databases that store project, client, and research-related information, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and monitoring databases, optimizing performance, implementing backup and recovery procedures, and troubleshooting database issues. The role also involves designing and updating database structures, supporting data modeling efforts, and collaborating with the team to improve workflows and reporting capabilities. The Database Administrator will contribute to establishing best practices for data management in a research-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and Databases, including configuration, maintenance, security, and performance optimization.
• Candidates should possess skills in Database Design and Data Modeling to create efficient, scalable, and well-structured schemas that support research and operational needs.
• Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to diagnose issues, improve data workflows, and support reporting and decision-making.
• Experience with relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) or comparable platforms is highly beneficial.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, user access control, and data security best practices is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical team members.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with research environments or academic institutions and basic understanding of medical or scientific data is a plus.
