What they need
About us Disconnection breaks compliance.
Across the UK, organisations are still managing compliance, facilities, safety, supply chains and training through separate systems, fragmented data and siloed teams. That creates gaps. Gaps create risk. And risk, left unmanaged, can have serious consequences.
Vantify was built to change that.
We bring software, expert services and intelligence together in one connected ecosystem, giving organisations a single vantage point across everything that matters. Our mission is simple: to set the standard in connected compliance.
That makes Vantify an exciting place to work. We are building a business that helps clients see more clearly, act more confidently and manage risk before it becomes a problem. Whether you work in sales, marketing, technology, consultancy, customer success, service delivery or operations, you are part of the same ambition: helping organisations move from disconnected compliance to one connected way of working.
We are looking for people who want to make things better. People who bring judgement, energy and ownership. People who care about doing work properly, supporting clients well and building something with lasting value.
Compliance. Connected. About the Role Reporting to the Development Director, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimising and evolving the databases and underlying infrastructure that support our products. In this role, you will monitor and manage database performance, security, scalability and availability, while also helping to build new shared data solutions across the Vantify product ecosystem.
What you’ll be getting up to
- Monitor and improve performance of several MySQL and SQL Server databases
- Design and deliver shared data solutions that combine data from three core software products across MySQL and SQL Server
- Manage database security, including access controls, permissions, auditing and data protection measures
- Manage change control for production changes to databases
- Design, implement and test geo-redundant backup and recovery strategies
- Collaborate with product managers and development teams to deliver roadmap initiatives
- Work with the senior technical team to define best practices, standards and design approaches
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Provide occasional out-of-hours support for planned maintenance and critical incidents where required
- Stay current with emerging technologies, platform updates and industry best practice to support continuous improvement
What we're looking for
- Solid experience managing MySQL and SQL Server databases in production environments
- Strong capability in performance tuning, including indexing, query optimisation and configuration improvements
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure and/or Google Cloud) and managed database services
- Proven ability to implement monitoring, alerting and health checks to ensure performance, availability and capacity
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing, reviewing and optimising queries, views and stored procedures
- Strong understanding of database security best practices, including access control, encryption, auditing and patching
- Experience managing database releases, schema changes and deployments using version control (e.g. Git)
- Demonstrable experience designing, implementing and testing backup, restore and disaster recovery processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate effectively with product, engineering and cross-functional teams
- High level of ownership, organisation and commitment to quality and continuous improvement
