Database Developer

Hybrid (3days per week in the office) | Prague, Czech Republic (candidates must be based in the Czech Republic or willing to relocate)

We're partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a Database Developer to join its Data Operations team. You'll support a large-scale Customer Data Platform serving millions of customers across Europe, enabling analytics, digital commerce, and partner management capabilities.

Working across Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure, you'll take ownership of database performance, governance, security, and reliability within a modern cloud data environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise-scale data models and database architectures.
• Administer and optimise databases across Snowflake, Databricks Unity Catalog, and Azure SQL.
• Implement and manage role-based access controls, service accounts, and security frameworks.
• Drive database performance through query tuning, warehouse optimisation, and resource monitoring.
• Lead database governance initiatives, ensuring scalability, consistency, and data quality.
• Support CI/CD processes, database deployments, and environment management across DEV, QA, and PROD.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Terraform and DBT.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis.
• Partner with Data Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience in Database Administration or Database Engineering within enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure SQL.
• Expertise in database performance tuning, optimisation, and resource management.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, dimensional modelling, and enterprise data architecture.
• Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog administration and governance.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, DBT, ARM templates, or similar.
• Experience implementing RBAC, credential management, and database governance controls.
• Understanding of monitoring, alerting, incident management, and automated recovery processes.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
