Database administrator

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle databases across Windows and Linux environments.
• Monitor database performance, identify performance issues, and implement appropriate optimization measures.
• Manage database changes, maintenance activities, and provide regular status updates.
• Review database designs and provide technical recommendations for new projects.
• Implement and maintain database security, including user accounts, roles, privileges, and access controls.
• Respond to database incidents and provide timely resolution for escalated issues.
• Perform database troubleshooting and provide technical guidance to development teams.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and development teams to support business requirements.
• Participate in scheduled on-call and 24/7 support activities as required.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Relevant professional experience in database administration, with strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Experience with SQL Server 2012–2017 and Oracle 11g/12c is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of database performance troubleshooting and optimization.
• Practical knowledge of database backup, recovery, indexing, maintenance, and patching.
• Experience working with Windows and Linux server environments.
• Understanding of database security, access controls, and security delegation.
• Knowledge of cloud database services, including Amazon RDS or equivalent technologies, is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to participate in scheduled 24/7 support or on-call arrangements where required.
